    It can be free if you made less than $30,000 or were Active Military with AGI of $54,000/less or you qualify for EIC.
    The previous poster did get his federal for free but he/she didn’t notice the charge for their state return. If your state doesn’t participate in the States Free File Alliance, the charge is $9.95.
    If you don’t qualify for TT’s free service, you can go to the IRS website and find a service that you do qualify for. As long as you made $54,000 or less, you shouldn’t have any trouble.
    Also, if your state is not part of the Free File Alliance, you can always go to your state’s Dept. of Revenue/Taxation and e-file.

    Haha Good question. I did my taxes through them as it said it was free and ended up paying ten dollars.
